Getting Started The Himalayas seem far away and exotic - a little overwhelming for the first time traveler. The first thing you should do is write to us at info@fihp.com. Send along your questions. That's a great way to get started planning a trip. When you write please tell us about your expectations and hopes, and what you dream might be possible. Do you know what country or countries you want to visit? If not, read through the short summaries here. The summaries each link to more description and the various adventures in each country. Combine countries as you like; flights are short and convenient. What will be your main activity? If you aren't sure, look at the country pages for Nepal, Bhutan, Tibet and India. We can arrange almost anything, so if you don't see an activity listed, please ask. What other activities? There is so much here, think about a one or two day extra something. Whitewater rafting, an elephant-back safari, a visit to Lhasa or the Taj Mahal, ballooning or biking, . . . |

How much time can you spend, and what time of year? Short visits to the Himalayas are wonderful, but most visitors spend two weeks or more. We help you make the most of your time with a personal itinerary. Nepal and Bhutan prime seasons are Autumn and Spring. In both places Winter visits are great if you do not intend to trek to high altitude (it's very cold up there in Winter). Tibet high season is April through October; the remaining months are very cold. The best time for sightseeing in India is October through April - for trekking India, Autumn and Spring are best. See more about the area's geography and climate. Are you traveling solo or with others? Both are great! Solo travelers and small parties are welcome. Some activities, like rafting, need more than one person, so we'll match you up. In Tibet "independent" travel is not allowed, and you may need to be flexible about dates and travel in a small group. In Bhutan smaller parties pay a hefty surcharge, so we recommend you join one of our scheduled trips to save money. We offer all the options.
