The Druk Path Trek
This is a moderate, short trek, but it gets some real altitude and could not be called "easy." Two beautiful lakes with very large trout make this a great trek for the angler! As a short program, it makes a good combination with other South Asian or Himalayan adventures.

Fly Bangkok to Paro Bhutan. During the flight, you will see breathtaking views of Kanchenjunga, sacred Mount Jhomolhari and Jitchu Drake in Bhutan. On arrival at Paro International Airport, you will be received by our representative. Paro sightseeing: Visit the 7th century Kyichu Monastery and Paro national museum.
In the morning drive to Drugyal Dzong, a ruined fortress outisde of Paro. With clear skies, sacred Mount Jholmohari can be seen, with the other snow peaks of western Bhutan. Visit a typical farmhouse and take an hour's walk to stretch your legs.
Day trip to Taktsang, the Tiger's Nest Monastery. The monastery is perched on a rocky ledge with a sheer drop of nearly 4,000 feet. In the 8th century, Guru Padmasambhava flew here on a tiger's back to found the monastery. The four hour walk up and back will be a warmup for trekking.
Trek to Jele Dzong, ~7 Km, 3-4 hrs journey. Camp ~2,575 m. A gradual ascent makes for pleasant walking a you climb out of the Paro Valley.
Trek to Janchulakha, ~10 Km, 5 hrs journey. Camp ~2,880 m. Climb through thick forest and rhodendrons for 2 hours, then pleasant walking.
Trek to Jimilangtso, ~11 Km, 4-5 hrs journey. Camp ~3,200 m. The trail follows a ridge most of the day, with fabulous views throughout. Camp near Lake Jimilangtso - try your hand at the huge trout that live here?
Trek to Simkota Lake, ~11 Km, 5-6 hrs journey. Camp ~3,850 m. From one lake to another, gradually climbing through yak herders' territory.
Trek to Phajoding , ~10 Km, 6-7 hrs journey. Camp ~2,7890 m. The morning ascent brings you to views of the highest mountain in Bhutan, Gangkhar Punsum. Then downhill the remainder of the day.
Trek to Thimphu city ~8 Km, 3 hrs journey. This is a lovely, easy walk-out, through heavy pine forest. Free afternoon to relax.
Thimphu sightseeing, including the seat of government, painting and wood crafts schools, the memorial chorten, and Simtokha Dzong, the largest monastic school in the country.
Day trip by car to the Winter capital, Punakha, with it's massive fortress, and to the beautiful Wangdi Valley.
Drive to Paro in the morning, then fly Paro to Bangkok and on home.
