The prayer wheel is an ever-present part of Tibetan life. This is a hand-held version. Devout Buddhists spend hours praying by spinning the wheel clockwise. Pilgrims journey with the wheel in constant motion. There is a scroll of prayers tightly wound inside the cylinder. The prayers are dispatched to heaven with each turn of the wheel. Bamboo handle, copper wheel decorated with glass beads and repouse metal. Cast brass counterweight. 12.5 inches long overall, 3 inches in diameter. Wooden stand included.
