Tibetan Thangka Painting
Thangka paintings are both beautiful works of art and devotional objects. They are painted in mineral colors by hand with remarkable, minute details. This Thankga features the Buddhist "wheel of life," a representation of the states of existence in heaven, on earth and in hell. 22.4 x 17.7 inches (57 cm x 45 cm), framed with brocade fabric. You won't find a thangka this fine for twice the price in the US or Europe. The close-ups are of the upper center figure and central mandala. (There is some angular distortion in the photos - the edges are all straight and square. There is some light reflection from parts of the gold-leaf paint that look white.)
